In Memoriam: Bob Warshawer, MCPF
The framing industry lost another icon with the passing on Dec. 9 of Robert “Bob” Warshawer, MCPF, at the age of 88.
A Brooklyn native, then a resident of Lexington, Mass., Bob retired from a career in engineering management in the aerospace and electronics industry in 1988. After framing his wife’s artwork for many years, he opened Warshawer Custom Picture Frames. An artist in his own right, he also taught framing at the deCordova Museum and adult education classes in Cambridge.
Bob was a long time member of PPFA and a founding member of the New England Chapter, where he served more than once as president.
The first framer in New England to earn the Master Certified Picture Framer (MCPF) designation, Bob always encouraged others to achieve CPF and MCPF certification; and in 2013, the New England chapter established the Robert Warshawer, MCPF – CPF Scholarship in his honor.
