As most of you know, framing can be a tough business and often times the budget can be very tight. We don't go out to eat very often, but last year I came up with an idea to reward ourselves. Any day that we take in more than $2000 in orders we go out to dinner. Tonight is one of those nights :smile-new:

Do you have any celebrations for a particularly good day besides doing the happy dance?

I am thinking Son of Thurman Cafe for one of the worlds best burgers. Three quarter pound of great tasting meat and more toppings than you can shove in your pie hole.

Congratulations on having $2,000 days!

Thinking back, on those few occasions when I have had $3,000 weeks, Janet and I have gone out. Either Steak 10, a locally owned and reasonably priced top level steak house, or 240 Union, a locally owned, Mediterranean style higher end Italian restaurant featuring seafood and risotto, and .... just great food.

Where ever you go to celebrate, we just need to make to go to an Independently and Locally Owned place. And make sure they know you are a locally owned picture framer!

We have "macadamia nut cookie" day which is a $3000.00 day. We get a dozen of these from our local Giant store bakery. Not as often as in the past but occasionally around Christmas.
PS: sometimes we even share with the customers.

When we have a good pay day we'll plan a celebration, but nothing written in stone. We do mostly corporate work so paydays are spread out and there are many with no orders or income. So, there are lots of cornbread & greens and beans & rice in between.
Current local favorite is Mezza, and upscale Mediterranean place with a killer wine list. They offer 6-8 wines at 50% off on Mondays, so we try to take advantage of that.

Dave, that is a great tradition! And another example of my learning something every day. I've had my share of happy dances, but I have never even considered having any kind of more formal celebration of meeting a particular goal.

This is the kind of thing that keeps framing fun.

Mine usually goes like this:

me (calling home at the end of the day): On my way, need anything?
wife: No, we're fine. How was your day?
me: Good, we did $xxxx in orders and $xxxx in pickups.
wife: Oh good, we'll go out to eat tonight.

Great way to celebrate goal days!
Mine is less formal and tends to be celebrated with shoes!

Or vintage cars, or vintage travel trailers, or carving sets, or junque furniture...just sayin'.

Cliff, that's one reason I don't necessarily share the high points as they happen. It usually comes out like, "I was able to pay a chunk off the HELOC this week.", or "you wanna go out for Bouillabaisse tonight?".

What I like about those good dollar days, is satisfaction and peace of mind. When all of that is in place, it gives me the joy to be able to celebrate when I choose.....and life is good.
