OK, either I am missing something or someone has dropped the ball. I have been helping the Indiana Chapter with their Oct event promotion and was trying to find out just what is in the member benefit package when someone joins or re-joins. Is it not listed somewhere a person who might want to join can find out what they will be getting for their money? The only thing I can find here is in the Chapter leaders private section that I don't have a password to. If I have missed it, please tell me where to find the information. If it is only in the Chapter Leaders section, then I have to ask; why in the world would you hide that information from people who might want to join PPFA for the first time? If there is information here that I am just not seeing, please point me to it. Thanks for your help.

Someone may have a better answer, but this is my understanding - from reading previous posts:

The new PPFA Member Advantage Program will be unveiled when the new PPFA membership year starts - on October 1, 2013. It does not yet exist.

It will be listed in Corner Cafe, once available, with a sticky post. They're still scrambling to finalize the details and participants.

Wouldn't it make more sense to unveil it before the new year begins to give the old members a good reason to rejoin? And new members a reason to join as well. It makes me wonder that if since I have already paid my dues for next year, will I be excluded from the program for paying in advance?

No, you won't be excluded.

It just is taking that long to get things created and organized.

I wish we had been ready in June to encourage early renewals, but we weren't.

Frankly, with all the organization and details involved, I'm thrilled we'll be ready on Oct 1.

What Mike and Cliff said. And I would like to add this: There is a new publication on the PPFA website under the benefits section called PPFA Today. This two-sided pdf lists all of the benefits, including the Member Advantage Program. It was designed to be circulated as a recruitment tool. Next week there will be a link to the Member Advantage.

There are a lot of reasons that the Member Advantage was not ready to roll out in June. It took a long time for all of the PPFA stakeholders to review and comment. This review process, involving every chapter, every committee, and every board member, allowed us to anticipate a lot of potential problems as well as tweak it so that we were supplying the best possible product for our members.

While there was considerable staff support, particularly in the later stages of developing the graphics and the all-important selling the program to the vendors, the majority of the planning and development was done by volunteers--and some very busy volunteers. We were working on this program nearly every day since shortly after the first of the year. (854 posts in the committee threads!). And a lot of the groundwork was done last year.

We are planning for this to be an on-going benefit for members, and there is still a lot of work to do. It is very important that the program works well for our vendor-members as well as the general membership. If the vendor members don't continue to sign-on and others don't join-in, the program will not thrive.

So, while this is a lengthy post, it is the short answer as to why everything wasn't ready to roll out earlier. There have been some announcements in the last few weeks that list the vendor-member participants, including an article in For Members Only. An email blast was also sent to the membership. It certainly hasn't been a case of trying to keep it hidden from the membership or the general public!

My views may be biased since I chaired the membership committee this year.

The wonderful Volunteers have worked extremely hard to get this program ready and are doing due diligence in making sure all their ducks are in a row before it is blasted out everywhere. I commend them on this. If the information was released before it is in order there would be disappointed members and new members. Please be patient. The program is set to launch October 1.

Thank you to the committee who has worked so hard on this program. It will benefit members and suppliers.
