At our Convention this year, there seemed to be more smiling faces and a more upbeat mood. I believe this was due to an improving economy in more places, many great education courses and many chances to renew friendships and make new friends.
Perhaps, the highlight for many of us was the PPFA Membership luncheon keynote presentation. The reframing of Washington Crossing the Delaware was a fascinating process and the slide show along with the discussion of the details was very impressive. Many thanks go to Rob Markoff for engineering the presentation and to Larson/Juhl for sponsoring it.
It has been a month since our Convention and your National Board is busy determining where to place our efforts in the current year. There are several areas that we will emphasize in 2013.
Of primary importance is communication. We want to continue the great work of our Consumer Awareness Committee, chaired by Mary Fender, MCPF. She and her Committee have been "getting the word out" about PPFA to members, to other framers and to the general public. Within PPFA, we want to have clear and frequent communication between our Board and our Chapters and between our Board and our Committees. We want to be sure all members know what we are doing to improve PPFA. Hopefully, all members will be up to date on our programs and will feel free to push their thoughts up thru their Chapters to Committees and to the Board. We can use help from any and all members.
Other topics of concern will be: getting more members involved with Chapters and, especially, with Committees on the National level; finding new topics and educators for our seminars; developing messages to entice framers to join PPFA; likewise, promoting benefits to suppliers to encourage them to join PPFA and to sponsor PPFA programs/events; strengthening our Chapter structure; making sure our Certification programs stay current; emphasizing the ease and enjoyment of entering our Competitions; assuring our PPFA Guidelines Series contain the most recent and relevant information; reviewing the nominating process for National Board elections; urging all Committees to look forward at least 2-5 years into the future.
We will be talking about all of the above as this year progresses.
Please, do not hesitate to send your thoughts and suggestions to your Chapter leaders and to your National Board.
To remain a viable and healthy Association, YOU and your Board must get members involved. We must listen to each other and help identify those among us who have an interest in helping and leading Their Association.
Have a good framing year!!
