Hello everyone, I'm a new oldbie, most Grumblers might know me.

Nice to see William here and all the others who have recently joined.

About myself:
Am a second generation pictureframer who started framing 20 or so years ago. Have started my framing shop in August 2012 in Feilding, North Island, New Zealand. Feilding is a town on the coastal plains with 15,000 inhabitants and serves a large and prosperous frarming community.

Feilding is famous for its Edwardian (1900-1910) architecture. These are now deemed an earthquake risk and need to be strengthend in order to survive a major shake or risk being pulled down before that happens.
Business is steady and I am happy about the move to Feilding, working on my own without staff.

It takes me a 1/4 hour drive in my economical Daihatsu Pyzar from my home in Palmerston North. It can take longer than that to drive from one end of Palmerston North to the other at half the speed. Unfortunately, there is no direct road between PN and Feilding, but as such, I can take different routes. One takes me at the end of the airport's runway, so planes can come over the road low in the air.

Another passes a marae, which is a Maori meeting house with nice wood-carvings on the outside. On clear days I can see Mt. Ruapehu in the northern distance. This is a large volcano, that has erupted recently.

I'm not new here so I'm not telling anything about me, but I would like to welcome all the new people.

I would especially like to welcomea good friend of mine, Trevor Yates from Gladstone in Queensland, Australia. Welcome Trevor!

You guys might recognise his name as being part of the competiton winning duo Trevor and Jenny Yates! Hopefully Trevor might share photos of some of prize winning entries in the Design section.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
I first started framing about 15 years ago. Our business has gone the full circle. It was home based for 8 years before moving to a shop for 3 years. Business was good, too good in fact. The workload became excessive for myself and wife, Jenny. One day it finally got the better of me and I told Jen that was retireing. I was finished with meeting impossible deadlines and dealing with difficult customers. The enjoyment of framing was gone. Employing staff was not an option, (I'm too fussy, just ask Jen!) It was decided that all the machinery would be taken back to my home studio to allow me to do all of those personal framing jobs that I had promised to do for many years.
Telling our regular customers of our decision had mixed reactions, but they all wanted me to still frame their items. It was decided to operate from my home based studio again but " by appointment only". This concept has been a win for all. My customers are happy and framing is enjoyable again.

Mikki, I absolutately loved your open section entry. My biggest disappointment was not being able to find your print entry. I have heard that it was stunning. Do you have any photos?

I believe that a detailed story on all winning pieces will be in the next FMO newsletter. In the meantime, I will try to post some of my own photos.

The dynamic duo those two! They Rock the competitions! Welcome Trevor!

And they are not just pretty faces, either! When we were packing up the competition pieces, Trevor, Jen and their daughter just happened to be in the room. So what did they do? Why, they plunged right in, and with their capable hands, everything was packed up lickety split! Nothing better than folks who see something that needs to be done and just do it!

Trevor I did not take photos before I sent them. Just did not get around to it. I hear they are on their way back to their shops now so I will try to do that.
Thanks for the compliment on the Open piece! I also miss the reports being with the pieces although this year I left myself no time on the show floor so I would not have been able to read a word anyway. I was to busy testing or being a Yozo groupie! It's just gold!
