A number of you helped out a year ago in voting for us as Best Gift Shop in the Post-Crescent Readers Choice Awards. :first: Thanks so much for the assistance. Now in the second year of this category, we want to win it again so that people don't think it was a fluke! :smug:

(The still have not created a Best Frame Shop / Gallery as they have in many community Best Of promotions)

We realize that it is a bit of a marketing game from the sponsors to gain advertising revenue, but I will share with you that the large 4x8 banner we placed in front of our shop after we won last year's BEST GIFT SHOP Award, brought in a mass of NEW traffic...people who were just curious to see what the fuss was all about. That is also a driving element in having us aggressively seek a second award.

Here's our News & Notes webpage announcing that the Voting has begun.

Here's the official Reader's Choice Awards webpage for Voting.

Some of the details...

  • The first time you register name, address and details... this is for the prizes they give Readers following the conclusion of the Voting.
  • There is a drop down menu for each State... The rules state that only Wisconsin resident can win prizes - reference to voters. :sour:
  • You can vote ONCE each day until next Sunday, September 13th... (You only register once and it remembers you from your IP address
  • Only one person can vote per IP address, so if a second person wants to vote they need to find a unique IP
  • You must vote within 10 categories of Retail / Personal Services and as many won't know the businesses, I have provided a suggested list below of those that are independents that provide great professional service. Several of you requested this last year.

Suggested List Best Retail / Personal Services

Best Auto Body Shop: Femal's Auto Body Inc
Best Child Care Center: Creative Child Learning Center
Best Dry Cleaner: Sterling Dry Cleaners
Best Floral Center: Flower Girl Design Studio (Michelle is awesome!)
Best Gift Shop: The Frame Workshop of Appleton, Inc.
Best Home Improvement Store: Menards
Best Import Car Dealership: Kolosso Toyota-Scion
Best Jewelry Store: Avenue Jewelers
Best Shoe Store: Rogan’s Shoes
Best Tire Retailer: Van Zeeland’s Auto Care Centers

Thanks so much for your support with this mission.

I guess it's too late now, but isn't this a bit like stuffing a ballot box? Maybe that's de rigueur nowadays and the only way to win, but strikes me as not as the way I'd want to "win".

David,

If you read my posts and previous posts, you will read that I am aware that it's a bit of a game already....

This is not something important like an elected political representative. Regardless, we play the game. Here's the big falicy in these contests, I can't have 115 different customers (different people) vote on a computer in my store as this would all register as one single IP address. Yet, each person who votes can vote every day for 10 days...go figure.

Keep in mind that it's sort of like asking on this forum, which POS system do you think is best or which CMC is best?

You can vote for us next year!:thumb:
