I was messing around with a custom finish for a frame and love the way this turned out.

Very easy and simple.

I first put a thin coat of Z-Luxe metal paint in copper over the existing silver finish.
Then I "SPLUDGED" (mush the brush tips down on the frame and pull straight up to get a spludge of paint) gold Z metal paint randomly over the copper.

I let this dry over night and the next day took Damson colored Guilders Paste and rubber over the whole surface. I let this set up overnight and took steel wool and rubbed the finish fairly hard to remove the damson from the high points and to smooth out the spludging texture a bit.

I have repeated this finish with other products and the tip is make sure the spludging acrylic/latex paint is very thick so you get peaks and valleys. You can also use Black wax or other colored waxes for the final tint coat. IMG_5004.webpIMG_5007.webpIMG_5009.webp
