I ordered and paid for corner samples from this company a few weeks ago. Now I need to ask them about when they will be in Lifesaver, best time to call to place orders, turnaround time etc. For the life of me they NEVER answer the phone or return calls. Do any fellow framers know how to contact them or have any experience with Smith Frame and Moulding? Mike

My suggestion, and it's pretty obvious, Don't use them.
There are plenty of good suppliers out there with excellent customer service.

Just in the last two days I had a rush job of framing a UCLA flag for a customer.
It was 40" x 65 1/2" and we had ordered a large oversized mat board to sew it down.
It had to be stitched down in a shadowbox with a Roma moulding.
It had to be finished on the 19th to be given as a gift on the 20th.
We are extremely busy and to get this job out as a rush was really pushing it.
I stitched the flag down so it would be ready to frame.

I discovered on the 18th that the moulding had a huge flaw and I could only get 3 sides of the frame cut.
I called Roma and they overnighted a half stick to finish the frame at NO CHARGE and it all worked out and everyone was happy.

It shouldn't have to be like getting a Root Canal to do business with a company.
Roma did their job as I would have expected them to do it.
We will sell Roma all day long.
Just my opinion.

I snd an email to Smith a couple of days ago with links to this thread and the one on the Grumble. I suggested that they respond to these threads with an explanation before it was too late and too much negative publicity had been passed around.
I see it appears they decided not to respond, if they did receive the email via the contact page on their site. Seems ashamed.

Luke Smith has been active here and from time to time and on FB. I would give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, they are not Roma and we all know running a business, stuff happens.

Well in that case, someone should contact them to renew thier membership, because they used to be members and they have a offer in the PPFA Member Advantage Program.

I am thoroughly confused ... Smith Frame and Moulding can have a PPFA Member Advantage offer and not be a PPFA Member?

No the offer should be withdrawn until they renew membership. they probably got one, maybe two reminders of membership, then it was out of sight, out of mind, or they chose not to renew. Either way I am sure the link will be removed in due time.

I am a benefit of the doubt kinda guy but this is way beyond that. They took my $50. for corner samples which finally arrived. Sold some right out of the gate, found out they are not in Lifesaver, called for eight days in a row and left messages and no response. Now it is my obligation to warn my fellow framers to not be had by this company. Mike

Hi Mike

Smith Frame and Moulding is indeed supported vendor in Lifesaver, with 47 items, when I checked today. Did you mean that those particular new samples had not been submitted to the POS vendor, with a recent update from the moulding vendor?

The vendors do this via email, to the various POS companies. The updates are then usually broadcasted/posted in 1-5 days, depending on the POS company's schedule/policy.

For LS, the framer would have to click the "one click UPDATE" button to apply that day or week's updates.

Mike

Thanks for the info Mike. Yes, the particular series that I ordered are not in LS. We have some older samples from Smith F&M that are in LS. We also did an update for them and they are still not in LS. The pricing in LS is not the only problem. I have a printed price sheet so I can price a frame to my customer, my concern is calling an order in when they never answer their phone and never return messages. MIke
