Many of us know Shirley Damon, CPF. She retired last year to spend time with grandchildren and to pursue other interests. She started her business, Damon Galleries, with her husband in 1973 in Vienna, Virginia. She was a long time member of PPFA, she won PPFA Competitions and was a vital leader in our Certification programs among her many efforts on behalf of PPFA.
After surviving a stroke and back surgery in 2012, she decided it was time to change her priorities. Her long time employees, Steve Rigby and Kathy Millar, bought her company, Damon Galleries, moved it and changed the name to Damon Framing Studio.
Sadly, this past Tuesday, Steve passed away after a heart attack. He was 74 and had been Shirley's right hand man for 40 years. Many in the industry knew Steve and he was known as a perfectionist. Obviously, the situation is unsettled at the moment. Shirley is helping, Shirley's daughter continues to help in the business and Mark Klostermeyer, MCPF is assisting in the assembly of their frames.
