Seeing Both Sides of a Dagger Sheath

Client wanted to see both the dagger and sheath and also both sides of the intricate work on both sides of the sheath.

A traditional shadow box would not allow all the edges of the items to been seen and would block the light. We used a UV filtering acrylic box to create the depth needed but also surrounded it with a traditional looking frame to make it less contemporary feeling.

Our solution was to shape a piece of mirrored acrylic to sit behind the sheath that would also allow us to drill through it for the support to hold the sheath.

The raw silk mat and faux burl frame set off the piece beautifully.

I knew that there was mirrored acrylic, but not in a million years would I have thought of it for an application like this. I'm just not wired that way. Thanks for sharing this, Rob. This idea alone is worth the price of my dues.
