PPFA announces Framing Competition PRINT 2015-16: “Little Birds”
Here’s your challenge for the PPFA International 2015-16 PRINT Competition –- and your chance to win cash prizes and ribbons!

The 2015-16 PRINT is a set of four pieces from the “Little Bird” series by Chris Paschke, CPF, GCF, long time PPFA member and educator, and well-known artist represented by Wild Apple Graphics, Grand Image and Editions Limited.

Though the 10-by-10-inch originals are mixed media of gesso, ink and Chinese watercolor, these four are a special-sized limited edition printed with an aqueous inkjet printer on 65# Brockway Felt Finish, warm, fine art paper created specifically for PPFA. All four images will be shipped on a single sheet with dividing lines for each framer to cut the images apart prior to framing.

The four 3-3/4-by-3-3/4-inch images must be placed within a single frame in any horizontal, vertical, diagonal, staggered, crisscross, four corners or other creative pattern, but there is no specific rotation or sequence for the images. All four images must be used in the presentation to qualify.

All U.S. and Canadian PPFA members can order a PRINT piece from their Chapter.
PRINT pieces are $30.00 (U.S.) each. Contact your Chapter leader for dates for your Chapter competition.

PPFA also offers the International OPEN Competition, where you can indulge your creativity almost without restriction.

Remember, as of the 2014-15 competition, there is no longer a “Mailbox Chapter” for the U.S. or Canada – all members are assigned to a Chapter for the Competition.
All PPFA members outside the U.S. or Canada (Australia, New Zealand, or anywhere else) are considered part of the "International Mailbox Chapter". International Mailbox Chapter judging will take place in Las Vegas just prior to the judging for the International finals competition. Registration and shipping information will be provided separately for International members.

Framed competition entries must not be shipped to PPFA headquarters – that has moved from Jackson, Mich., to McLean, Va.; (instructions for finalists to ship entries to Las Vegas for judging during the PPFA 2016 Convention will be provided later).
The finals will be held during the PPFA 2016 Convention. Competition entries will be displayed for attendees to admire and vote for their Popular Choice.

To participate in the finals, entrants must first place 1st, 2nd, 3rd or Honorable Mention at their Chapter (including International Mailbox Chapter). This applies for PRINT and OPEN competition finals alike.

If there is no PPFA chapter in my area, does that mean I can't participate in this competition?

They did change the policy last year, as noted above. Everyone in USA and Canada should have a chapter now. You can participate within your assigned chapter, even if it is several hours away - and you wish to do so by shipping the piece. Previously, they had a special "mailbox chapter".

Hopefully someone from your chapter, which covers Nevada, will jump in or contact you directly. If I'm not mistaken, that would be the Pacific Southwest Chapter. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pacific-Southwest-PPFA-Chapter/294976320592517?ref=hl

Good luck!

Hi Liz,

I just emailed Byron Ward and Carl Martin to contact you. Byron is President of PacSo and Carl is President of Northern California. I think you are part of PacSo but included them both in case I am incorrect. If you do not hear anything by next week PM me and we will get it figured out.

Thanks Robin

Hello Liz,

In checking maps and calling the Chapter Relations Committee Chair, we can confirm that you are a member of Northern California Chapter. Your chapter president is Carl Martin, and I will send him an email to contact you. Good luck. We are looking forward to seeing a competition entry from you!

Linda Pujo, MCPF
Chair, Competition Board
