Registration for the PPFA 2014 Convention will open soon at the WCAF site --so here are a few FAQs to get you in the Vegas mood!

Q: What is the PPFA 2014 Annual Convention?
A: The biggest and best event of the PPFA year!
Education and events offered by the Professional Picture Framers Association (PPFA) are independent of – but concurrent with – the WCAF Expo/The National Conference, Jan. 19-22, 2014.
PPFA 2014 and the WCAF Expo/National Conference are both at the Paris Hotel & Casino, and Bally's, in Las Vegas.

Q: Who are your PPFA speakers?
A: William Adair, Kirstie Bennett, Ellen Collins, Jared Davis, Meg Peters Glasgow, David Lantrip, Rob Markoff, Joyce Michels, Jim Miller, Chris Paschke, Hugh Phibbs, and Linda Pujo.

Q: What framing topics are on tap?
A: Glass enclosures for 3-D framing; hinging light and heavy items; evaluating materials; mat design ideas for CMCs; designing with decorative papers; framing oversized art; high tech framing of canvas & textile art; framing pennants, patches, medals -- and more.

Q: I’m a Master Certified Picture Framer: Do you offer MCPF Continuing Education?
A: Eight sessions meet the requirements for MCPF Continuing Education credit – but any framer is welcome and will enjoy these advanced sessions.

Q: What about business and marketing sessions?
A: E-newsletters made easy; strategies for attracting customers; how to hire and train sales/design staff; and how to grow business by teaching to local art/photography groups.

Q: What is the PPFA International Framing Competition?
A: The finals of yearlong PPFA Chapter competitions will be judged at PPFA 2014 and entries will be displayed on the WCAF Expo floor. Attendees may vote for Popular Choice by 6 p.m. Tuesday. Competition winners will be announced at the PPFA Sunday luncheon (and Popular Choice at the PPFA Framers Corner forum on Wednesday)

Q: I hear Competition winners will be announced at the Sunday Luncheon/Meeting?
A: We’ll hold a “Competition Celebration” during the PPFA Annual Meeting/Luncheon on Sunday, winners will be announced and honored with ribbons and cash prizes!
We’ll also present the Annual PPFA Service Awards; announce the CPF and MCPF Scholarship winners; honor PPFA committee volunteers; thank our many supplier supporters; and enjoy networking and camaraderie over lunch.

Q: What is the Welcome Reception & Vendor Showcase?
A: This event – a huge success at PPFA 2012 and PPFA 2013! – will take place 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 19 at the Paris Hotel.
Enjoy pre-show one-on-one time with PPFA suppliers and vendors before the opening of the WCAF Expo floor. Preview tabletop displays, renew acquaintances, and forge new connections with vendors. This meet-and-greet also features a light hors d'oeuvre reception. This event is included in the PPFA Convention Pass. Individual pricing is also available.

Q: Who is Sunday's PPFA Keynote speaker?
A: Join former Smithsonian frame conservator, Rome Prize Winner, and master gilder William Adair in a celebration of the re-publication of his groundbreaking book “The Frame In America.” Owner of Gold Leaf Studios and founding director for the International Institute for Frame Study, Bill also writes and lectures on frame history and conservation and has curated numerous frame exhibitions, beginning with the 1983 exhibition, “The Frame in America, 1700–1900,” which traveled to 17 museums around the country.
The event includes a book signing, and question and answer session. Books will be available to purchase.

Thanks for the info.

Last year if you bought the PPFA convention package, you could also get the WCAF classes at a discount. Do you have something similar?
