We're back!

Apologies for the recent system outage.

There was a major failure at the data center we rent from, in Boulder CO. Due to HUMAN error, they wiped out all server databases and backups with one command. More than 30,000 websites were down, and it will take them until Thursday to get them all repaired. Thanks to off-site backups, which take a long time to load from the internet, all is well. The delay was in the transfer of data back to their primary center, due to the large volume of info.

My take is that it's important to have off-site backups of data, even for small businesses like ours.

If you posted a new message or replied on Thursday or Friday, you may have to do so again. We restored back a couple days, to be safe.

Thanks, Mike

This just shows the importance of proper backup procedures that one should make. One layer of a backup is not always the best (orig > backup). It also shows the importance of a major disaster protocol where backups are stored in several onsite and offsite locations, online and offline.

This is a good time to ask this hard question of your ISP regarding your data and or website.
