As you probably know, an E-5 tornadoe devasted a large part of Moore, Oklahoma this past Monday afternoon, 5/20/2013.

After 2 days, electricity and phone service was restored this AM in the area where we have members. I called Sharon and Steve Thompson, our members in Moore. Their business, Masters House Gallery, was spared any damage. The tornadoe touched down 2 blocks south of their shop. A lot of debris surrounded their store and a good amount of dust and dirt invaded their business. They have been cleaning inside and outside their building. They were fortunate. Their home is 2 1/2 miles away from the shop, but there was a lot of debris in their yard.

Sharon and Steve are helping with the clean up and helping to organize relief efforts. They are preparing a flyer on how to protect and preserve any valuables which the victims are able to retrieve. I asked them to send me information on how we may help, including how we may donate as individuals.

I will forward specific info as I receive it.

Also, I called Dennis Duarte, MCPF and his wife, Kristy, who own Framed in The Village in Oklahoma City to see how they were. Dennis is the President of our North Texas PPFA. The tornadoes in Moore, Shawnee and Edmond, Oklahoma over the last few days were several miles from their home and business. However, Dennis's sister's house in Moore was leveled and she and her family have moved in with Dennis.

Re: tornadoes

It is amazing what power these tornadoes or typhoons have. There is nothing we can do to stop them or push them off course. I believe there are certain places in the US that have had tornadoes coming thru in the past. Knowing that, would it be wise for people not to resettle in such places?

I do feel sorry for those affected - loosing everything including family-photos.

Re: tornadoes

Thank you for the info. Please keep us updated.

I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: tornadoes

Hello everyone. Here is some information from Sharon and Steve Thompson, our fellow members in Moore, Oklahoma. I am sure help of all kinds will be needed for months if not years to come. Anything you may offer in the way of help will be appreciated as the need is great as you have seen the destruction on TV.

Good afternoon John,
Thank you so much for expressing concern for our city. We are strong and will build back with the watch phrase being “Oklahoma Strong”. This type of tragedy brings out the very best in people as we are seeing hour by hour. Steve and I suggest that donations be directed to:

Kyle Dunkin, Business Manager
First Baptist Moore
301 NE 27th St
Moore, OK 73160
(405) 793-2600

Kyle.dunkin@fbcmoore.org

The church is the community crisis management center for our disaster response and recovery. Please feel free to send any questions our way.

We also would love to have access to any insurance accepted formats used by other framers to document the condition of artwork customers are bringing for stabilization and repair. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Grateful regards
