As you probably know, an E-5 tornadoe devasted a large part of Moore, Oklahoma this past Monday afternoon, 5/20/2013.
After 2 days, electricity and phone service was restored this AM in the area where we have members. I called Sharon and Steve Thompson, our members in Moore. Their business, Masters House Gallery, was spared any damage. The tornadoe touched down 2 blocks south of their shop. A lot of debris surrounded their store and a good amount of dust and dirt invaded their business. They have been cleaning inside and outside their building. They were fortunate. Their home is 2 1/2 miles away from the shop, but there was a lot of debris in their yard.
Sharon and Steve are helping with the clean up and helping to organize relief efforts. They are preparing a flyer on how to protect and preserve any valuables which the victims are able to retrieve. I asked them to send me information on how we may help, including how we may donate as individuals.
I will forward specific info as I receive it.
Also, I called Dennis Duarte, MCPF and his wife, Kristy, who own Framed in The Village in Oklahoma City to see how they were. Dennis is the President of our North Texas PPFA. The tornadoes in Moore, Shawnee and Edmond, Oklahoma over the last few days were several miles from their home and business. However, Dennis's sister's house in Moore was leveled and she and her family have moved in with Dennis.
