We see a lot of members registering on the forum, since it went live tonight.

Don't be shy to post in this area, say hello, and introduce that you have arrived!

With your participation and sharing, together we can make this a valuable resource.

You will find many things that you can adjust, with the SETTINGS button. You can upload a personal AVATAR, and change your signature to include info about your shop. The PROFILE button is also on the top right, so you can colorize and customize your own personal profile on the forum.

If you have any questions about the sytem, or how to use any of the features, don't hesitate to ask. You can post your question right in this section, which is our general discussion area. You can also email the entire moderator team any time, with a single email to mod@ppfacorner.com We are here to assist.

Welcome, folks!

Facebook Like button

The Facebook Like button is only available in the three "Public" forums.

The first three forums are available to anyone.
Non-member registrants can post in the classified section.
Only Members can post in the other two.

The For Members only forums do not have the Facebook "Like" button.
Then, you could make something public that might have been intended to be private.

We are anticipating some of the things posted in this section are for members only and we wouldn't want someone sharing someone elses private post.

For completeness, there are also forums which are private to particular committees and can only be seen by members of those committtees.

We're always open to suggestions, but I think you can understand our initial position on this?

Thanks

Sure can!
I completely agree with that stance.

I found it again after your guidance, on the threads themselves in those 3 forums.

Guess I was looking for an overall like button for the FC itself.

Thanks Cliff!

You bring up an interesting point. Perhaps we can add a LIKE icon of our own, which doesn't re-post the information to Facebook. This can be added to the right side, in the list of smileys.

As Cliff said, the Facebook LIKE button on here is so folks can promote their event press releases (from the first forum in the list) through social media outlets. It can be also be used in the design showcase, if someone posts something that's really nice.

Thanks for the feedback. Now we just have to get the word out there, about the new forum.

I'm doing my part. I posted it on Facebook last night, both on my own profile and our chapter's page. Also sent out an email to everyone in our chapter, members and non-members alike.

Maybe Nick or someone could send an email out to all chapter leaders encouraging them to do the same.

I think that would help a lot. Once we start having more discussions, registrations, and people see how much easier it is; it should take off and do well.

Now the task is to get the word out there.

Thanks for all your help with testing and promotion!
Mike

PPFA twitter and google + went out today too..

Seems like a constant effort but people are on all different schedules and will reg. when they have a moment. Reminders will help though!

I posted a profile photo on the site, but it's not showing up here. What's up? Too ugly?

I see it in your profile.

If you want one to appear on each message:
-click SETTINGS
-click EDIT AVATAR
-The screen then has three choices, to upload your avatar:
  • Option 1: You can put a web link in to an avatar that is stored on another website.
  • Option 2: You can click BROWSE to pick an avatar of the correct size (100x100 or less) from your computer
  • Option 3: You can pick from the library of avatars already stored on the forum (you'll see the images)
-Once you do one of the above, make sure to click the SAVE CHANGES button at the bottom.

If trying to upload one that is too big, it'll give an error message telling you that it was rejected.

I hope this is helpful
