Many of us do business with a company called Larson Juhl and I suspect just about all of us mispronounce Juhl as jool. I had a brief argument with my wife yesterday when I said yule instead of jool.
"This is how you are supposed to pronounce it" , I said to her. She countered, that I just have to pronounce it the way everyone says it. We have a town in the South Island called Blenheim and I always say Blenhime, since it is a German name lying in the Elsass/ Elsace, now in France.

Yule is actually the direct translation of the German word Juhl. It is a pre Christian midwinter festival.

I think "when in Rome..." applies here.

My mother-in-law's maiden name is Aguglia, an Italian name. It is pronounced Agoolia. Most of the family finally gave up correcting others' pronunciation Ah-gug-lia and changed the spelling to Agulia. I suspect if Mr. Juhl wanted it pronounced Yule, he would have done the same....

And while we're at it, the company that makes metal frames is Nielsen, not Nielson.

A frame moulding (not molding) has a rabbet, not a rabbit.

It's a mat, not a matte. It's not a matt either.

Larson- - - jewel

Betcha if you spell their name on the check correctly they don't care.
"Just don't call me late for dinner." "A rose by anyother name is still" a thorney Dude. "I got millions of 'em"

What is the correct name for some one who files bankruptcy and owes you $7,000? Is it capitalized?
What do we call that customer that always comes in late and "needs it by Saturday." And why is the sad or lengthy story they always have in iambic pentameter or Sudoku?
What is that one piece of cr--p that is always on the suede mat/matt/matte after you get it papered called?
What is the technical term for ATG tape after it is rolled up like a buger? (and then it appears on the glass when you show the customer their perfect frame job)

Good idea Jim. Let me just ring all the Larson Juhl offices around the world and see what they have to say. Good to see you back.
Judging by the amount of gear you were selling, I thought you were moving to a retirement-village and serving all the old folks overthere! Only joking of course. We are all young at heart.
