Unless Frank still hosts his own framing competition at the show, which would obviously be conflictual. If this is the issue, then a separate meeting with the competition?
Perhaps Ormond or Quentin Webster will jump into this discussion. [/QUOTE]

Frank does hold a competition at the show and it is very successful. I'm not sure that the format of that competition will change!
A separate meeting with the competition is impractical. Our chapter occupies a land mass, much the same as the land mass of USA, where you have multitudes of chapters. Shipping of entries would be very costly, because we don't have the same shipping systems as in USA. Our population is so much lower that there are way fewer shipping companies and costs can be very high.
The winning entries would have to be shipped to USA. Shipping costs to USA and return can amount to $1500 or more! (Trevor and Jenny Yates are still waiting for their winning entry to return after Vegas.)
We do not have any PPFA qualified judges and I see little chance of that changing in the foreseeable future, because it's extremely complex to qualify. It's extremely difficult to get members to volunteer for anything, so something as complex as that will be absurdly difficult as they would need to travel to USA to do the classes and get some experience. More than one person would need to qualify to make the judging fair and equitable. At least three, I would think.
Judges, plus people to unpack and repack the entries would also be required to travel to a location at a different time to our conference in order to run the separate competition at quite a cost to themselves.
In my opinion running a separate competition under PPFA competition rules is not practical and it would certainly be a very expensive exercise for those participating and the organisers.
It was suggested that we could choose the top three from Frank's competition and send those, but many people who enter, don't comply with PPFA comp rules! People who judge Frank's competition judges don't necessarily use the same criteria or system as qualified judges! I don't see how this could work!
Lastly, we are not a legal chapter as in USA and Canada. It would be absurdly expensive to make that happen. If someone was aggrieved about the result of a judging and was to take legal action, who would be responsible? Judges - personally?
That probably sounds a little negative, but they are the facts! The Mailbox competition already works and doesn't have the above problems. In the immediate future, I think it will continue to work!
