Looking for help using the PPFA Directory

You are not doing anything wrong, Currently there are no member shops in Las Vegas.

Perhaps another possibility is that they renewed but never got around to setting up their free listing.

As of a few months ago, these shops are/were members:

Mainstream Framing 8635 W Sahara Ave # 170 Las Vegas NV 89117-5858
Fire & Water Studio Fine Art PO Box 750065 Las Vegas NV 89136

(from the 2014-2015 former membership year, which ended 9/30/2015)

I see, the way I understood you is that members do not get listed automatically by renewing? They must add themselves to the directory?

If this is true, would someone give me instructions on how to add our shop to the directory, or is there a link you could point me to? Thank you.

Mike you are Correct! I had not thought of that.

I knew one shop that was a member in the past had retired so that is what I was thinking about.

Liz we will get you a link with the code to set up your directory listing.

Doesn't it make more sense to include all PPFA shops automatically in the directory and have them update their listings if they wanted to? Or maybe there there is an advantage for current setup that I should know about?

The advantage is, there is no man power to list all the shops, double check that information is correct, membership is up to date, so at this point it is more efficient and less costly to have members create their desired listing. These are all pretty much one time learning curve that takes a hour or two to set up and it's done.

Besides who wants a generic photo on their listing?

Agreed! and actually if you've done anything similar like a SuperPages listing or a Google listing or any other directory listing, you will find it quite easy and actually more like 20-30 minutes worth of time.

Complete Directory listing will always compliment and help your business web page so it is definitely worth claiming this and making it your own!

I was thinking advantage to the shop owner like myself.
I just realized I am not listed either!
:-(

Time to get listed! How do I do that?

Everyone should receive an email directing them to update their listing after they have renewed their membership. If you have not received this email or have misplaced it please contact info@ppfa.com with your questions and we will get you the help you need.

Thanks Robin

I may have gotten it. What is the subject of the email if you don't mind. I can search and find it that way.

Thanks for sending me the link to the PPFA directory. I spent some time a week or so ago setting-up my page, submitted it, and just went back to check if it had been activated. Not being sure how to check it out, I decided to just pretend I was a consumer looking for a framer in Reno, NV, where my shop is located. I googled "find a picture framer", and when the PPFA site came-up, I used "picture framer" for the search words and for the location, I used our zip code first ... no results. Then I tried "Reno, NV" ... no results. Finally I tried "Nevada" ... again, no results. I was beginning to think we were not yet active, but I decided to change my search words to "The Frame Shop at Lakeside", which is the name of my shop, keeping "Nevada" as the location. This time, our listing did come up. While I do appreciate our listing being active, it seems like the only way a consumer would find it is if they already know about us? That can't be right, so what am I missing? Do I need to edit my listing so that search words like "picture framer" or "picture frames" will result in finding our listing? If so, how do I do that? Thanks in advance for your help in sorting this out.

Hi Liz,

I just went to www.ppfadirectory.com and put in Reno then Nevada and then Reno, Nevada and your listing came up each time. Not sure why it did not come up for you. Maybe try from a different computer to see if it comes up when you search. I am not a tech person but I wonder if maybe cookies has something to do with it? I just know they mess me up sometimes.

Anyway if you do still have trouble please email info@ppfa.com and let me know.

Robin
