My compressor has a slack belt and would stop at the most inconvenient moments losing pressure to my v-nailer. I tried shifting the electric motor by undoing the bolts on the base and repositioning. This helped somewhat.
I could have replaced the belt, but no. Instead, I removed the belt and tied the thickest nylon framing cord around the wheel a number of times; laid a knot and replaced the belt.
It works very well now. Let's see how long it lasts. The nylon framing cord I have in the shop for when a customer wants a piece of cord for a broken string and likes to do this herself. For framing I use coated wire.
