HEY FRAMERS!!!

We have a Tri Chapter 20114 meeting flyer jpeg.webp
event in Louisville KY May 17-18 Please join us!!

This event is really taking shape. Our shop has made an effort to start offering French mat designs and with minimal start up cost for a ruling pen and some inks, we have added another revenue stream. Last week, nine orders with French lines, this week three orders, added revenue over three hundred dollars. Letha and I are bringing two shop workers to learn more about French matting designs, so come join us for a lot of fun and learning in Louisville! Mike

Gail and I are planning to attend and will take care of the registration later today.

If anyone along I-71 would like to ride along, we'll be driving down on Saturday, and back on Sunday right after the events.

...wish there was time for a calligraphy lesson!! Still want that for a Vegas class!
Actually, several years ago I taught a class at WCAF on how to use calligraphy for framing applications, covering captions and calligraphic mat decorations. It as not very popular.

If you want to learn how to do calligraphy, buy some books and pens, and start practicing. But before you get too far, try to get a few lessons on the basics, to make sure you don't develop any bad habits. There is no secret to making beautiful letter forms, you just have to develop the skill. Practicing is really the best way to learn. Also, join your local calligraphy guild, if there is one, which would get you into group lettering activities for creative ideas and fun projects.

If you like, maybe we can do a quick lesson over breakfast on Sunday morning. All we need is a straightedge, pencil, and paper, but a couple of broad-pens and some ink or gouache would help, too.

We are less than two weeks away from the Tri Chapter event in Louisville, KY. It is not too late to register and join us for what will be a very educational day. This event WILL energize you and help expand your money making opportunities at your design counter. Is the french line class filled up yet? We're mailing the registration today but don't want to go if it's already filled up.

John you can have my spot if there isn't room.

Thank you. It would have added a lot of pressure to our lives/schedule to take off to go this weekend and I wanted to push for it with that class being very enticing but as it turns out things are not falling into place at all and we just can't get away. Sucks! I hope those of you who go have a great time! Next time...

This is really going to be a great event! I'm excited about the No-Holds-Barred popular choice framing competition--you know you can bring more than one piece. The more the merrier!!

I wish to thank all the hard-working vendors who set up their table-top displays and showed us what's new during the Saturday evening Vendors' Showcase and Reception. Without your support, we probably could not have these important meetings.

Congratulations to the "no rules" open competition winners. As expected, we saw lots of creative ideas and framing innovations.

Gail and I had a great time and enjoyed visiting with our friends from Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Missouri, Indiana, and beyond. We also enjoyed Linda Wassell's excellent presentation about French Matting techniques and Bonnie Palizzi's shadowbox enhancements.

Thanks to Randy Parrish's hard work in bringing the PPFA framing tools to sell, I scored a nice-looking Wood Tek 10" band saw, a like-new FrameMaster point driver, a Dahle Cube hand-held matcutter and a nifty burnishing tool.
:peace:

Looking forward to next time...

I too had a great time at the Tri Chapter Event. I can't wait to get up some new samples of our French matting designs. Thanks Linda Wassell for an excellent class. So fun to see all my framing friends too. I too scored some great items from the PPFA "Storage Wars" that Randy Parrish hosted!

Thanks to all of the PPFA board members who went above and beyond to bring in vendors for the tabletop event and organized a wonderful event!

A Big Thank You to the Chapter leaders from Ky/Tn, Mid-America, and Indiana and to some Great Suppliers who came for the table top show and to our Fabulous Educators, Linda Wassell and Bonnie Palizzi. I was able to visit the vendor booths on Sunday before and after the event and come home with new samples and some great deals from the "storage wars"!

Thank You all for giving up your weekend to put on a Fun and Educational Event. Now to get some samples made!!!

The weekend in Louisville with the KY-TN (et al) Chapter was well worth the trip and a financial bargain. This group knows how to have a party!

I learned important things from both Bonnie & Linda. I can do at least two complicated things I couldn't do before I left home.

But the company surpassed the wonder of learning. It was great to meet up with old friends, and some I had never before met face-to-face.

And is often the case, I learned other important things in the hallways; those little tidbits like where to get a tacking iron with a thermostat (thanks Wally and by extension, Rob!), and that the value of those pristine mat smackers I have is considerably more than I would have guessed.

Extra thanks for Randy who has spent untold hours getting PPFA's unused tools & equipment into the hands of framers who can really use them at affordable prices.

And thanks to the vendors & the volunteers who put this event together.
