Our thoughts and prayers go to the family of Sam Falk.
Sam Falk, CPF, owner with Marsha Braaten of award-winning Choice Framing in Elk Grove, Calif., died July 1.
Prior to his career in picture framing, Sam worked in telecommunications in the Bay area, before moving to Elk Grove, near Sacramento. Helped by consultant Stuart Altschuler, he opened a small independent custom frame shop in March 2007.
Sam and Marsha became active in the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce; became patron members of the Elk Grove Artists and Elk Grove Fine Arts Center; and started donating framing to the Elk Grove Historical Society and other local non-profits for fund-raising events. Since 2010 the two donated framing to the Sacramento PBS television station for an annual art auction.
The two joined PPFA shortly after opening the shop; and were frequent attendees at the annual Convention, and WCAF Expo. Sam— who was featured in the August 2022 issue of the PPFA CONNECT newsletter—became an accredited PPFA Competition judge; and also earned his Certified Picture Framer (CPF) certification
