Ready for Fun, Funky, and Downright Wicked, one of the best framing classes of the year? Then reserve Sunday, August 28, for a great Day with MIK [aka Mary Ann Miklich] at the Denver Larson-Juhl branch office.

MIK will teach her Fun, Funky and Downright Wicked class to give a behind the scenes look on how she does Frames and Mats at Classic Corner. Some of these 'events' will include:

1. Making and using silicone molds for frame repairs.
2. Stucco Mats.
3. Playing with Crayons.
4. Distressing Frames.
5. Water Marbling.
6. Anything else that comes up during the discussion.
7. Finish with water marbling and refinish of distressed frames and silicone molds.

And all of this, plus lunch for $35.00 for PPFA members? $30.00 if you pay in advance? Unbelievable? yes. But we are holding the price down so you can spend it on travel to come to this exciting and fun filled event.

For questions, please contact Russ Wood, Grey Owl Framing, greyowlframing@gmail.com. 303-809-4957,

At first I thought you must have resurrected MLK.

As for the cost of the class, it's totally insignificant compared to the cost of an airline ticket, at least two hotel nights, plus about 20 hours travel time. Surprisingly cheap tickets TO Denver that time of year.

I guess it make sense though - all those outdoor adventure types at HS/college-age Yuppies* needing to get back home before school starts leaves lots of empty seats heading there. If only you didn't need to leave before Labor Day. Hmmm... Maybe a CO vacation is on order. Haven't been for, what? At least 15 if not 20 years.

*Alas, I would be willing to bet a Princely Sum there are precious few on this forum that would Qualify... PM me if you think you are the exception. Or, what the H, post it on this thread if you're Brave!

Yes, the cost of the class is insignificant compared to flying in, and spending two nights in a hotel. And Colorado offers many great benefits for vacations. Also, the date is before football officially starts.

As our chapter covers seven states, quite a few people drive. In the past we have always had people drive 150 to 200 miles, attend the class, then drive back, all in the same day. [MIK, our great instructor will need to drive more than 100 miles to get here, hold the class, then drive back home].

And two people from an adjacent chapter drove from Northern Wyoming, [440 miles one way] spent the night in Denver, then drove home after the last class.

So having a smaller fee for such a great class does help offset a little gas expense.
