framing a robin's egg?

The egg is completely empty, right? I don't know what to say in terms of any chemicals / critters lurking in the egg that could end up damaging the framing package.

I think using a mesh overlay (the same way that you would mount a golf ball) would work well to keep the egg in place without damaging it.

Good luck!

I might find another egg and test this first, but I think I would use a hypodermic needle to thoroughly rinse it out before framing. I would use Dawn since it is so good at bonding with oily substances. I might finish it off with a 50% bleach solution, then a clear rinse with distilled water.

And I would advise the customer to keep a close eye on the package, particularly if the painting is particularly important.

Many years ago, I framed an egg that had been painted on its inside. I made a sink mat for it up to the midline, then made one more foam board depth which acted as a sort of pinch mount, where the reverse beveled edge held the egg in place. I covered the sink with lightweight fabric. It turned out cool.
