Well, I can NOT stand it anymore. I NEED to know if I passed the CPF.
I don't care if I didn't and everyone knows it. I will just start another essay NOW. Start studying again.
And make an empty frame to hang on the wall where the CPF will hang for NEXT year.
And start soliciting ampted up framing projects from friends, family and on-coming traffic. Will find the proper way to hinge everything including 3ply toilet paper. And mounting methods for any item under he sun.

The Alaskans know. I have searched PPFA's ENTIRE website. All of PMAI, The Grumble, I even pleaded with Lantrip to find out for me.

I can handle NOT having passed, just put me outta my misery so I can get some work done.:sorrow::miserable:

I am scaring my postman.

Sorry to Grumble-up the PPFA forum...I-M-CHICKIE

Hi Cathy,

It was really great meeting you in Vegas!

Did the folks from Alaska get tested at the trade show, or was it done locally before the trade show?

If it was done at the trade show, my guess is that the results were all mailed at the same time - and that yours will be there very soon.

I remember when Andy took his, it took a while for notification to come via US Mail. (more than two weeks)

Hopefully you have some good news on the way soon. I'm sure you are anxious to find out!

Best regards
Mike

It does take some time to find out, and even longer for the official notification. It was several weeks or maybe even a month before I knew. I agree, the waiting drives you crazy.

Welcome to our sanctuary of sanity, Cathie. :smile-new:

When I took the CPF exam back in the Dark Ages, it took about 8 weeks to get the results. Please be patient. I hope you passed, but if not, I'm sure you have the fortitude to ace it the second time.

Got my fingers crossed for you...

I think my Ages were even Darker than yours. It was about 6 weeks, and came by registered mail. Had to go to the PO to sign for it! [should have kept the letter....]

I took mine in Melbourne 1991. The exam had to be taken back to USA, then graded, then I had to wait for a letter to come back. It was so long ago that I can't remember how long it took, but I'm sure it was two months or more!

At that time the President of PPFA was Barbara ????? from Canada! (Will have to check surname on my certificate at work on monday) I'm sure she came to Melbourne that year as did Vivian Kistler, Kaye Evans, Brian ????..........Holy smoke, I just added two more blocks to my massive mental block collection! I'll be in Guinness book of records for that soon!

Well, thought I'd check in...still no word. Thanks ya'll for your support and meeting so many of ya in Vegas was lovely.

And Dark ages, PAH!

Also, quite astonished no one commented on hinging 3ply toilet paper...common...thoughts?:pop2:

I don't know about hinging. Even if you used Hugh's method in which only the long fibers of a hinge are adhered, you could still easily run into issues with cockling. Plus, the weak point would be how well the various layers are adhered. You could end up with the bottom ply hinged beautifully and the middle and top plies falling off when they separate from the others.

I'd look into a clear film overlay or direct contact overlay with acrylic.

Also consider making a high-resolution scan then frame the copy and keep the original safely stored away.

Yes, you silly girl, I realize you were kidding. Weren't you?

Actually David, a white stabletex overlay would disappear and you'd still maintain the textural look.
Damn, now I want to go frame some toilet paper.

Ok, then. An angled backing board covered with fabric. The tooth of the fabric should hold it in place. Microdots of paste near the top and between the layers where hinges would normally be will keep the layers from separating. Only Optium so that static electricity can't lift it up.

You do know that TP by design will simply disintegrate over time, right?

Print piece

I think I have an idea for a Print Competition piece for the 2014-2015 season.

I personally would never choose to frame toilet paper! David, you "know" Judges and Chapters get to vote on Competition Board selected PRINT pieces from annual PRINT submissions. Submit some tasty toilety paper artworks if you must, but if you truly want a challenge ... try framing temporary tattoo artwork. I had the pleasure of handling a sheet of temporary tattoos by artist Kiki Smith! My client wanted the entire sheet float mounted! Had to practice many many many (x100) times to get a hinge that would not cockle that supremely thin hydroscopic tattoo paper and still hold.

Competition framing should be more fun than frustration. That is my thought.
