Jean Stryker, a framer with BlackBird Frame & Art in Asheville, N.C., earned the Certified Picture Framer (CPF) designation this month, taking the online test at a local university testing center.

The online exam is easy to arrange, by finding a proctor such as at a library or testing center. The written CPF exam can be taken at an on-site event, such as the PPFA Convention, and some regional PPFA events.

With the CPF designation, framers will instantly gain professional recognition from colleagues, employees, and customers. Certification is available around the world, with testing available in Imperial and Metric options.

The PPFA certifications are a tremendous marketing and learning tool; and show customers a framer has achieved a standard of excellence that can be trusted throughout the industry.

The objectives of the certification program are to:
• Standardize the principles and practices of the profession.
• Encourage self-assessment by offering guidelines for achievement.
• Award recognition to those who have met the established criteria.
• Improve education within the industry by encouraging participation in continuing education programs.
