Are you considering becoming a Certified Picture Framer? Have you thought about going for the industry's most prestigious certification, the Master Certified Picture Framer? If so, you should look into the PPFA's scholarship programs.

The L. Thomas McKeon CPF scholarship was established in honor of the past president of the PPFA. Awarded annually, it includes a complete set of the recommended study materials and one free sitting of the exam. Complete details and an application can be found HERE.

The Vivian C. Kistler MCPF scholarship was established to honor Vivian Kistler, MCPF, a well-loved educator and tireless advocate of custom framer. The recipient will receive one free sitting for the MCPF exam and a $500 stipend to help cover travel or other costs associated with the exam. Click HERE for complete details and an application.

The dealine for both scholarships is September 15; as both require a letter of recommendation with the application right now would be a good time to get started on your application.

If you have any questions please feel free to post them here.

The scholarship recipients are selected each fall, usually by mid-November. The recipients are notified, with a public acknowledgement at the PPFA convention.

To be eligible, you of course need to be eligible for the certification and a PPFA member or work at PPFA member business.

Not looking for you to answer Dave; I'm just ruminating a bit ...

One of my employees just asked if she could take the CPF exam. I fully paid for a previous employee to take the exam and she did at a local chapter event.

If my current employee were to get a scholarship, I could invest the money I would have spent on the exam and bring her to the convention for additional training.

It would obviously cost a little more, but I think I could justify it.
I can't see how I could do both though.

But, if they aren't announced until the convention, I can't know early enough to book her a room, etc.
bummers

You said you weren't looking for me to answer, but I will anyway. :)

It actually wouldn't be a problem. The recipients are notified soon after they are selected, and the announcement in Vegas is sort of just a ceremonial thing for public recognition. We thought about holding off on any notification, but decided it wouldn't be fair for just this sort of reason.
