Bob Ross paintings are shockingly valuable.

A couple of years ago a guy brought in what he called a Bob Ross painting that he bought from a Bob Ross museum. The claim was dubious at the time, but mine is not to authenticate art but to frame it. It came with a certificate of authenticity. I now know that there are lots and lots of fakes--think how many shows there were!

It is interesting that Bob Ross, Inc. lives on selling art supplies and kitchey items with his image that Bob loved.

And if you remember his predecessor Bill Alexander, I bet you wish you had a stack of Bob Ross paintings in the back room to speed you into retirement.

This is a link to a recent NYT video that explains what happened to the thousands of paintings he made as a part of the show and and why there are none in circulation.

And here is a link to a print article that includes info about the accension to the Smithsonian: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/12/arts/bob-ross-paintings-mystery.html?searchResultPosition=2
