Well it was a drink, Cappuccino, from Battista's Hole in The Wall.
I raved about it to our wonderful waitress and she brought me a card with the recipe so I thought I would share!

Cappuccino for 4

2 cups coffee ( she said they use coffee syrup not brewed coffee....brand called Lyon or Torani)

2 cups powdered milk

1T sugar

1T cocoa

1 shot brandy

Mix and boil
top with whip cream!

I am making it Sunday for SBS and will report back

I must stay that the buffet at the Paris was spectacular, and 2:1 Groupon to boot - Spanish anchovies ($20/lb at wholefoods), sushi, smoked salmon, great deserts, hundreds of items to choose from - trouble for the diet but a little of everything for everyone

then again - the 105th floor of the Stratosphere ranks too as the best happy hour in town

OMG!!! Mikki.... you have no idea how much I LOVE you right now!! That was THE BEST drink ever!! The waiter brought me three of them and I downed them all!

Will make soon :)

Ylva I ended up brewing strong coffee because I could not find "coffee syrup" here. The first batch I made from an internet search and it had boiled sugar...that was not it.
the second time I just made very strong coffee no sugar.

It was in the ball park but mine was less milky that what we had in Vegas so I guess my coffee was to strong.

Also the recipe does not call for any water with all that powdered milk and that was not right so I did add water.

I will have to try again.

Odd thing....I slept great and my friend that had a cup said she slept great last night and we were both worried about coffee at night.

Must have been the brandy!!!!

I like the recipe in itself, but needs some fine tuning I think. I have never heard of coffee syrup (and it sounds disgusting) so would stick with coffee.

I am dope..... I thought the liquor was bourbon..... So that's what added.... Total yuck fest. Brandy makes sense.

I also tried to reduce the calories by using one cup brewed coffee and one cup coffee syrup. And, I didn't add the liquor before boiling, I did it after. After boiling, I tried the drink before adding the bourbon and it was almost just as terrible as it was with it.

The syrup makes all the difference, I guess..... As with anything, the more calories the tastier :)

Rhode Island is the home of coffee syrup, and coffee milk is our official state beverage. I'm not sure if they sell it in other places. It's made here and is a local thing. (Autocrat brand or Eclipse brand) Eclipse started selling it in 1930s and local competitor Autocrat bought them out in 1991 and now markets both brands. Their HQ is in the same small town as our frame shop.

I don't drink it, but my mother always loved it.

If you need me to send some, let me know :)

brandy originates from the Low German word brandewyn, or burnt wine and is related to gin, which in turn comes from genever or jenever sometimes made from junipers.
Both have a high alcoholic content. Gin is used to warm people up after iceskating in Friesland on the lakes and canals.

Try the recipe with gin if you like.

ahh... but the best meals I had in Las Vegas were when I was eating with old friends and new acquaintances.

Whether it was the continental breakfast before the Chapter conference, one of the restaurants in one of the hotels, or some of the restaurants and dives outside of the hotel.

Great seeing known framers and new friends.
