Can the board of our chapter announce upcoming events and meetings on this Corner and in the top Announcements and Events?
At least those framers in New Zealand know what is going on in Australia. Not that we have to go to events, but at least we are aware that something is happening.

This is not only helpful for members, but also for those framers that are not members that are visiting the public columns.
It is only Ormond as past president of our chapter who makes an appearance on FC and seems to be the spokesperson for our chapter.

It may also be, that the Australian board-members for our chapter do not really care about the New Zealand members and think we are just extra luggage. More awareness of what is going on in our chapter may boost the membership in New Zealand.

Rest assured, Kai, that if there is anything happening, you will know!
In Melbourne in September the Annual PPFA convention will occur in Conjunction with "The Framing Show", which may have a different title this year!

As far as I know there are no regional meetings planned in the near future. It's quite difficult to do so, due to the costs involved!

Somewhere in 1910 New Zealand had the option of joining the Commonwealth of Australia. This was rejected by the legislature of New Zealand at the time and that IMO wa a big mistake. New Zealand should have joined Australia back then. It would have been better for both economically, but alas that is not how it is now. There may be still a chance for this country to become another state of Australia in the future. Nothing wrong with that idea.
We talk differently from Australians, but the people in The south of the South Island talk differently too from the rest of New Zealand due to their Scottish ancestry.

The name Australia comes from Australis or southern land. The opposite of Australis is borrealis where-ever that may be in the northern hemisphere. There must be a better Aborigine name for the name Australia that can be used together with a change of flag. Oops, better watch out. David may be out there checking!

Kai,

My "West Island" reference was an attempt to make Oz part of New Zealand and not the other way round. ;) An attempt at humor.

In any event, as we are discussing Aussie and Kiwi framers, does anyone know if Mitch Park is still around?

Mitch was involved in the old PPFA Hitchhikers email exchange and posted on the Grumble. I believe that I met him during a trip to Wellington about 2002-2003, but do not see him listed on the current PPFA membership.

As I am one of the board members on the Australian / New Zealand chapter, I find it a little disappointing that you think the committee does not really care about the New Zealand members.

The chapter has recently had a change of leadership. Our past chairman, Ormond Williams MCPF has worked tirelessly to assist ALL members.

Our new chapter leader is Bob Smith CPF. I suggest that your concerns should be directed personally to him.

A newsletter is to be sent out shortly with the latest available information on what is happening within our chapter. Please let me know if you do not receive a copy.

Hi Kai

We certainly do care about PPFA members in New Zealand and each member receives the Aus/NZ Newsletters sent out each month. One of the Board members, Keith Stewart CPF is located in New Zealand and participates in teleconference meetings. At present all education classes are taking place in Aus but it is our intention to provide classes in New Zealand in the not too distant future
