[SIGN]Is there anyone on here that is involved with either the Central Texas or the North Texas chapter? I am having difficulty gaining any information about either. I do know that the Central Texas chapter got rid of their web page recently..... but no one in the Facebook group seems to have any information- so help! I would like to get involved with one of these chapters since I have recently relocated, thanks![/SIGN]

Our new PPFA president, John Pruitt, is located in Carrolton, in the Dallas area. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk to you and get you started in the North Texas chapter. You can reach him at frameworkstx@verizon.net. If the Central Texas chapter makes more sense for you, contact Adela Davis. I'm not sure off the top of my head if she is chapter president there or not, but she's very involved and always helpful. Get in touch with her at mdavis005@satx.rr.com.

Oh, and if you're ever down in the Houston area, let me know. I'm sure you'd be very welcome and I'd be happy to show you around.

Have you tried these? If you don't make contact with these addresses, let us know. I'm not sure this is the most up-to-date information.

Thanks for the initial input David, I would love to check out a gulf coast event as well.... I do know that as of last fall Mr. Beer was the president of the CTPPFA, but I have not gotten any response back from him or, I believe perhaps his wife, since September when I was first making my way (slowly but surely) back to the Texas area.
Even though my current living location would make centex the closest, the new job that I am currently in the process of acquiring will have me between both of the areas- central & north- quite a bit..... I will have to send out a couple of emails and get some feedback- Thanks again! I will be looking you up when I am in that area of the state again!

Thanks to you too Gregory! :smile-new:
The email for Mr. Beer is the one I have not got a response from since fall. However, I will be doing some footwork in this next week or so and keep you posted.

What area of TX did you reloacate to? If you are in the Austin, Houston, or San Atonio area I can tell you that the Centra TX chapter is a wonderful chapter. Very active and really together. It is one of the best I have visited and I have been to many around the US. They really work together and it seems that everyone is involved. If you are in that chapter area call Tom Beer. I don't know much about the North TX chapter, but there are probably many more on this formum who can give you information about them. Good luck.

The chapter you will join will be the one with zip code of where you are living and your mailing address.

Jayanna, I emailed your contact information to John Pruitt and Tom Beers, chapter presidents of the North and Central Texas chapters respectively asking them to get in touch with you.

I believe if you're in Austin you'll "officially" belong to the Central Texas chapter, but I'm sure John would be happy to put you on their mailing list to keep you informed of their events and you'd be very welcome to join them.

Thank you very much David for helping me out! This week has gotten away from me.... I look forward to having contact with the both of them! And Pat- thanks for your input, I have heard good things about the CenTex chapter.
One other question while I am thinking about it-
What all is involved with changing chapters?

You’re automatically assigned to a chapter based on your ZIP code. If you were in a sort of grey region and it would work better for you to be in a chapter other than the “assigned” chapter you could get in touch with Nick Shaver in Jackson and see what could be done.

As a practical matter, if you’re on the contact list for the chapter there’s no reason you can’t participate in that one (or both) regardless of your “official” chapter.

I personally go to meeting of two chapters. The Great Lakes Chapter is more often closer for me, however I officially belong to the Ohio Chapter. the Ohio Chapter often meets about 3 hours on the other side of our state. You are always welcome at any chapter meeting. However if you are entering a framing competition, you must enter it in your own chapter.

When I first joined PPFA, I was told that if I had wanted to pursue be assigned to the GLPPFA chapter (because it was closer, despite my zip code) that chances are I could be reassigned. I choose instead to simply benefit by going to both meeting. Double the pleasure, double the Fun.
