“Yupo, Tyvek and Terraskin… Oh My”
Weird title – great topic!
Yupo is a 100% polypropylene synthetic paper used for watercolor, alcohol inks and acrylic mediums. Artists are embracing synthetic papers for their durability and unique painting surfaces, but once completed the original needs to be protected and configured into a wall display as tradition glazed framing, float frame, cradled box or open-air mount to rigid substrate. Technically the paper should be mounted prior to painting, not after completion, both to prevent damage and to avoid the mounting of an original. Information on the Internet is easily accessible, yet not always current or correct. What’s a framer to do?
Chris Paschke, CPF, GCF, CMG, will explain all in her session for PPFA 2016, the annual convention of the Professional Picture Framers Association.
Chris’ session is open to everyone in the framing industry: with special pricing for PPFA members.
Chris’ class is also one of nine at PPFA 2016 that meets the requirements for PPFA Master Certified Picture Framer (MCPF) Continuing Education Credit.
PPFA 2016 will be held at the West Coast Art & Frame Expo/The National Conference, January 24-27, 2016, Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. You can attend classes and special events at both.
Chris, who will also teach Principles of Framing Design, is joined in the PPFA 2016 lineup by Ellen Collins, Meg Glasgow, Rob Markoff, Joyce Michels, Jim Miller, Hugh Phibbs, Linda Pujo, Mark Wallenfang, Cliff Wilson, Russ Wood, and by Sunday’s Keynote speaker Leslie Klingner, Curator of Interpretation at the Biltmore Estate.
To register, visit www.wcafexpo.com -- hurry, Early Bird pricing ends in two weeks, on Dec. 20!
