Our Election Process

With some email subscriptions, when I wish to unsubscribe, they ask a question before I push the button unsubscribe, as to why you wish to unsubscribe. PPFA can install this too. It will be interesting to find out, why members chose to unsubscribe.

Too many emails, or emails from PMA?
Until PMA emails are separated from PPFA emails, I like to remain unsubscribed.

Or chapters can send info, many of us are getting chapter mail regularly.
The chapter is a different corporation with a different email list.

we were unaware of the unsubscribe issue.
now chapters are being alerted and will have a chance to mitigate the situation a little bit.

in thinking a bit more, I should clarify ... For chapters, like New England, that manage their own email list, what I said was true. For chapters, that use national's eblast, the unsubscribe will stop chapter emails as well.

Update on the PMA/PPFA subscribe/unsubscribe - and I'll post this in another thread as well. Tensel gave me this info:

Every email usually has 2 options -

A typical PPFA email includes an opt out for a specific type of PPFA mailing and an unsubscribe from PPFA and PMA combined.

PPFA folks should opt out when they receive a PMA mailing, eventually they will be opted out of all PMA and only receive PPFA.

PPFA members shouldn't be receiving much from PMA anyway - except perhaps the weekly PMA Newsline summary - and perhaps PMA Magazine? Perhaps someone can let me know what PMA emails they are getting - PM me on here, or email sheilap@pmai.org

While it was a necessary discussion about how emails were working from PPFA, the original intent of this post got lost. I think the original post on changing our election process has merit, and would like so see us talk about it, so I am bumping it.

From what I understood I was put back on the mailing list that I had unsubsribed to. But I am still not receiving any e-mails from PPFA. Is it that there has been no e-mails or is there some other reason they are not coming through? If it is from my end I need to figure it out and fix it.

It's most likely the fault of AOL. They have an over aggressive spam filter that trashes a decent percentage of legitimate emails. (especially if its the same thing sent to multiple aol members, their system may identify it as spam and make it vanish) In some cases itll go to the spam folder, in others it will just be erased.

If you have alternate account (such as gmail or your business domain), that should be fine.

That's my guess, in any case. I have seen it many times with the four forums I work with, with regards to people not getting legitimate emails. Yahoo/Att/Bellsouth (same place) has the issue, too, but to a lesser degree.

In some cases, adding the senders email address to your contact list can help to let them know the emails are welcome.

Cliff:
May I suggest on:

point 1 --That the NC transmit to all Chapters (all members) a list of suggested candiates
and ask the Chapters if they wish to nominate a person for for one of the position (director(s)-at -large).

(NOTE: If the NC has requirements for the nominate it can be address at this time)

Point 2 -- The NC at this time would add this name to the ballot.

Point 2A -- Ballots mailed to Chapters for vote.

One more thought --Directors elected per regions - make 8 regions and have only one director -at-large

You are probably right. AOL seems to want to control everything, including which e-mails they allow through. Isn't it funny how they will allow every male drug related and viagra e-mails through, but not a business one like PPFA sends. I keep sending those (the drug type) to spam and reporting them, but they just find a new way to send. It sure is annoying.
