Job Title: General Merchandising Manager leads all Merchandising and Vendor efforts for The Great Frame Up, Deck The Walls and Framing & Art Centre (Canada) brands.

Reports To
: Director of Stores


Experience Required:

  1. Minimum 5 years experience in developing and executing specialty retail merchandise programs.
  2. Franchise experience helpful but not required.
  3. Knowledge of corporate structure
  4. College/advanced business degree.
  5. Knowledge of art and framing industry a plus.


Desired Experience:

  1. Merchandise strategist and visionary.
  2. St. Louis based or willing to relocate.
  3. Hands on, “roll up the sleeves” mentality.
  4. Strong fashion sense, trendsetter and high taste level.
  5. Strong selling skills. Articulates ideas clearly, gets buy in and moves people to change.
  6. Strong developmental/leadership skills.
  7. Ability to understand and teach financial components of merchandising.
  8. Assist Marketing Department in the development and roll out of marketing programs/materials
  9. Assist Development Department with New Store Sales process.
  10. Strong product development skills.
  11. Skillful negotiator.

Overall Duties of Position:
National Level:

  • Oversee the National Merchandising Program/Vendor Book
  • Develop, implement and track results of all aspects of National Merchandising Programs
  • Assist with the development of brand creative and other marketing tools
  • Negotiate pricing and launch products through vendor partner’s offering
  • Write and distribute all merchandising communications for franchisees and internal team
  • Work with Operations and Marketing team on projects as needed
  • Present merchandising initiatives to franchisees at conventions and area meetings
  • Meet with potential new franchise owners to present brand merchandising efforts
  • Provide merchandising training to new owners
  • Implementation of online merchandising efforts including but not limited to online sales and website development (non-technical)

Local Level

  • Day-to-day contact with franchisees regarding merchandising programs and services
  • Work with local store owners to specifically address merchandising issues
  • Assist franchise owners with merchandising plans and budgets, utilizing existing materials and available programs
  • Assist store owners in evaluating ROI of merchandising efforts/product placement
  • Oversee launch of entire merchandising program for new store owners and work with new store construction on overall store design.
  • Assist the Director of Stores with other functions as needed
