Hello all! I'm the gallery manger at Broadway Gallery! We are looking for an experienced picture framer to join our production team at our location in Alexandria, VA- Just outside Washington, D.C.

Broadway Gallery is a full-service art and picture framing company. We offer complete art services to a wide range of corporate and residential clients. We focus on museum quality framing with an emphasis on providing unique and creative designs to our clients.


Description:

Design and build custom frames for a variety of mediums and sizes of art while meeting archival needs and keeping craftmanship in mind. The ideal candidate is a reliable, self-efficient, and experienced framer who can work independently and with a team. This person should be willing to take direction and learn new things. This person should be good with tools and machinery and be able to solve problems by using a creative and practical approach. This is a full-time position with a salary ranged from 40k-75k based on experience. Benefits included. Overtime is available. On-the-job training is available.

Responsibilities:

Perform all tasks necessary in picture framing production. Including but not limited to:
  • Wood chopping and joining
  • Mat cutting
  • Glass cutting
  • Mounting Art
  • Frame fitting
  • Approach problem solving by thinking of the most practical solution while anticipating customer needs and keeping archival methods in mind.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ Years of experience working in picture framing production.
  • PPFA certification a plus but not required.
  • Comfortable with a variety of tools.
  • Can easily lift 50+lbs.
  • Basic woodworking skills.

Hi Jennifer,

You may want to look at a local community college or university to see if they have a work study program. You would probably need to train them but I have gotten some good help from the program. Also some of them reimburse part of the pay.

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the tip! There's a hiring site through universities called Handshake- and we haven't had luck there yet either. We'll take a look at work study programs as well!
