The historic David Barnett Gallery, named the longest running art gallery in Milwaukee, is in immediate need of a Custom Picture Framer. Our gallery sells, frames, and ships art all over the world and you will assist our framing department lead in fulfilling clients’ framing and shipping needs. We take pride in our positive work environment and hope you will be another great member of our team! Experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.

Specific job duties include:

  • Preparing artwork for shipment including prepping, packing, and creating address labels for the artwork.
  • Receiving items and unpacking and examining incoming shipments, recording damages, and making shipper aware of damages and shortages.
  • Using a pallet jack, hydraulic engine block lifts, or a dolly to move items.
  • Prepping materials for framing, finishing frame corners, assembling artwork into frames, cutting mats, mounting art, cutting glass, stretching canvas artworks, assisting in frame construction.
  • Lift up to 30-50lbs occasionally throughout the workday.
Requirements:

  • Must have a strong work ethic, craftsmanship skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to provide a consistent work schedule, including working on Saturdays.
  • Must have experience using power tools and equipment like a glass cutting machine, V-Nailer, and a power Miter Saw.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in archival museum standard workmanship and materials.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines, problem solving skills, light construction skills.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Daytime hours are Tuesday – Saturday between 10:00am - 5:30pm.

Pay commensurate upon experience, skill, and training needed.
