We've all heard how framing shouldn't compete with the art. While I think that
is true in maybe 99.9% of the cases, there are always times when the framing
(some call it stunt framing) needs to be over the top to make the work come to life.
So I think was the case this time.

My client brought in this dark, creepy photo that they took when they got to
stay overnight in this old prison. The image was dreary, slightly out of focus
and somewhat hard to make out, unless you had been there. Held memories of a fun
yet creepy night for them. We decided to play up the prison look by using a
wrought iron textured metal frame and cutting bars into the mat. Adding a float
between layers of matting gave depth to the presentation.
