The PPFA Scholarship Committee is happy to announce that members can now apply for the 2017 L.Thomas McKeon, CPF and Vivian C. Kistler, MCPF Scholarships. The application is available on the PPFA website or is attached here. To be considered, all applications must be emailed to orders@ppfa.com no later that August 15, 2017.

L. Thomas McKeon, CPF
Scholarship Program


The L. Thomas McKeon, CPF, Scholarship Program was created in 1997 by the Professional Picture Framers Association’s board of directors to honor the accomplishments of the former PPFA president. The scholarships provide financial assistance to individuals who wish to take the association’s Certified Picture Framer® (CPF®) examination. Under the program, five individuals will be selected each year to receive a scholarship for a free sitting for the CPF examination and a complete set of PPFA-recommended examination Source Material. (Each scholarship has an estimated value of $425.)

Qualifications
Applicants for the CPF Scholarship must:
1. Have a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in retail or wholesale picture framing.
2. Be a current PPFA® member or an employee of a PPFA member shop.
3. Have not taken the CPF exam before.
4. Meet all deadlines for submission of application and supporting material.

Only one individual per PPFA member organization may be awarded a scholarship during any one calendar year.

Applications for CPF Scholarships must be received no later than August 15[SUP]th[/SUP] to be considered for scholarships awarded for the following calendar year.


Vivian C. Kistler, MCPF
Scholarship Program


The Vivian C. Kistler, MCPF Scholarship Program was created in 2010 by the Professional Picture Framers Association’s Chapter Relations Committee to honor the accomplishments and memories of Vivian C. Kistler. Vivian was well-known throughout the international framing committee as a tireless and enthusiastic supporter of custom framing. Her books, articles, classes, and videos helped train an entire generation of framers and raise the level of craftsmanship and knowledge in the industry.

The scholarships provides financial assistance to individuals who wish to take the association’s Master Certified Picture Framer® (MCPF®) examination. Under the program, as many as two individuals will be selected each year to receive a scholarship for a free sitting for the MCPF examination and a stipend for as much as $500 to offset framing and travel expenses. Each scholarship has an estimated value of $900.

Qualifications
Applicants for the MCPF Scholarship must:
1. Have a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in retail or wholesale picture framing and be a current Certified Picture Framer (CPF) in good standing, including having fulfilled recertification requirements.

Note: Eligibility requirements for the MCPF require that “grandfathered” Certified Picture Framers, those who took the CPF exam prior to 1994 are required to have taken the CPF recertification class within the last four years.

2. Be a current PPFA® member or an employee of a PPFA member shop.
3. Have not taken the MCPF exam before.
4. Meet all deadlines for submission of application and supporting material.

Only one individual per PPFA member organization may be awarded a scholarship during any one calendar year.

Applications for MCPF Scholarships must be received no later than August 15[SUP]th[/SUP] to be considered for scholarships awarded during the annual PPFA Convention. The scholarship provided to each winner must be redeemed by the end of the annual PPFA Convention of the next calendar year following the announcements. If the scholarship recipient has already paid for the MCPF exam, he or she will be reimbursed.
